Ohio 48 SQ's Tribute to Veterans

On May 11 of 2005, a large number of people gathered at Middletown Airport for a ceremony created and produced by Mike Williams.  All of those gathered are interested in or directly involved with aviation, past, present, or both.

The weather was great and a number of folks flew in but most drove.  Our 1/2 scale P-47 is being dedicated to veterans and we found a number of P-47 pilots living locally in the Dayton, Ohio area.  They, of course, were invited.

The names, currently on the side of the 1/2 scale, will be removed and the names of P-47 pilots will be added as tribute to their service.

One pilot, once he saw the P-47, said all the memories came flooding back from his experience during the war.  I can't help but think all the work building the plane was worth it just to see the joy on the faces of those P-47 pilots.

Another P-47 pilot said he was part of Sq 48 overseas.  That's the number on the nose of our P-47.  How about that!
